Data We Collect

The extension collects the following types of data:

It captures the payload of these events, which may include information such as theanonymousId,userId,writeKey, event name, page URL, and other properties you are tracking.On-Page Configuration: When you use the "Info" feature, the extension reads the publicly available Dreamdata configuration object (
window.dreamdata) from the active webpage. This includes your DreamdatawriteKeyand settings for features like form tracking.
We do not collect any personal information, browsing history, or any data that is not directly related to the Dreamdata tracking script on the page you are inspecting.
How We Use Your Data
The data collected is used exclusively for the following purposes, all of which occur within your browser:
To Display Events: The captured event data is displayed in the "Event Log" within the extension's side panel to allow you to see the tracking calls being made in real-time.
To Identify Problems: The extension analyzes the
anonymousIdandwriteKeyto detect potential implementation issues, such as an "Anonymous ID Mismatch" or a "Tracking Reset," and displays these findings in the "Problems" panel. To Show Configuration: The on-page configuration data is displayed in the "Info" panel to help you debug your Dreamdata setup.
Data Storage and Security
All data collected by the extension is stored locally on your computer using the standard chrome.storage.local API.
Local Storage: Your data never leaves your browser and is not sent over the network to any server.
User Control: You have full control over the stored data. You can clear all captured events and problems at any time using the "Clear" buttons provided in the extension's user interface.
Data Retention: The event log is automatically capped at the most recent 50 events to prevent excessive local storage usage.
