The difference between the Performance and Revenue Analytics reports

What's the difference between the Performance and Revenue Analytics reports and when do I use what? Dreamdata's CMO Steffen Hedebrandt walks us through the difference between Dreamdata's Performance and Revenue Analytics reports.

Hi there. So I've got a question from our customer success team where they sometimes when they speak to customers they have to explain a certain detail inside our product.

It's the difference between our performance section here and the revenue analytics here. And some of the numbers do look the same and we use some of the same wordings in both menus so I do understand why it can get a little bit complex so to speak sometimes. It's simple when you know what it is so let me try to explain it.

When you look at the revenue analytics section of Dreamdata you're looking at what business came in in this time period, I've selected. Whether it's this quarter this month, etc. It's looking at so we say this quarter one deal has come in so far, so we're looking at this deal and everything that led this deal to come in, so it's looking backwards.

Revenue analytics is looking backwards, looking at what are the business results we produced in this time period and what led to that business result, like what can we attribute for achieving this business result.

Performance is different. That's looking forward. It's kind of a cohort so it can, you know, the same time period is you can have the same time period which would be this quarter.

Now, as I've selected this quarter. What I'm looking at here is actually in this time period I've spent eight hundred dollars on google search ads and what that acquired me was 758 clicks so far. Now, these 758 clicks are just seeds that have been planted but we don't know its value of it yet, so what we're doing here is we're saying in this time period, I've spent some money and now I'm looking forward whether this cohort of clicks is going to be yielding more and more return.

So, when I'm in revenue analytics I'm looking backwards, I'm looking at the business results and what led to the business results. When I'm in the performance section I'm looking ahead. I've acquired these things, what are they worth now and if I return to this time period, let’s say Q3, what have the quick clicks that I acquired in Q3 now accumulated over time. So, one more time when I'm in revenue analytics I'm looking backwards. I have a finish line, I have my business result and what produced that business result. In performance, I'm looking at what I'm what have I done in terms of activities in a certain time period, what is it worth now, but what is this cohort also going to be yielding and returning me in the time to come.

I hope this simple explanation makes sense if it doesn't then just do reach out for us and we will help you explain it and understand it, bye.
