Summer fun at Dreamdata
The days are warm and the nights are long - summer is here at last!
This means that it’s out with the winter clothes and on with the t-shirts and dresses as the landscape blooms and Denmark truly comes alive.
The Dreamdata team has been making the most of the wonderful Danish summer by heading for the outdoors. Here’s a little peek at what they’ve been up to!
Engineers Teambuilding day
Many Dreamdata events are for the whole company to spend some quality time with each other. These events let us unwind while getting to know our team mates from across the board.
Other events however, are reserved for individual teams to have fun with those who they work closest with every day.
This time it was our engineers who had the chance to head out into the city for some summer fun together.
After starting the day with a quick pit stop for lunch, they made their way to an Escape Room to test out their problem solving skills. They were split into different teams, and had 75 minutes to find a cure for a deadly outbreak and save the world from disaster (sound familiar?!).
It was a race against the clock to solve the riddles and tasks and required a strong dose of teamwork and thinking outside the box. It allowed our engineers to show off their diverse talents and collaboration skills in order to solve the puzzles and escape the room - despite the room having only a 54% completion rate!.
After successfully saving humanity, the day was rounded off with a trip into nature for hotdogs and snobrød roasted over the bonfire, and of course a good helping of beers to wash them down!
Nordic Race
A 5km run? That doesn’t sound too hard, right? How about if you add 27 obstacles into it - including swinging monkey bars, crawling under barbed wire, and jumping 4m into water in the middle of it?
That’s what was in store for our adventurous team members who ran in this year's Nordic Race.
Taking place every year on Amagerstrand, the Nordic Race is an obstacle course race that is designed to push the participants to the very edge of their limits.
Although the course was by no means for the faint hearted, our runners tackled all the obstacles brilliantly and showed each other what it truly means to be a team and have each other's back.
Combining their skills and playing to their strengths meant they were able to help each other over the toughest challenges and finish the race together. The pre-race training was also a perfect opportunity to get together in nature to push each other towards a shared goal and to share tips and tricks for tackling the upcoming race.
They certainly earned the cold beers that were waiting for them at the end of the race!
This event is set to be a fixture in the yearly Dreamdata calendar, with even more runners lined up to take part next year!
Kayak tour of Copenhagen’s canals
Copenhagen is a city surrounded by the sea, with canals running through the city and past some of the city’s most iconic sights.
We made the most of this by taking to the water for a 2 hour guided kayak tour of the city - taking in some of the classic Copenhagen sights like Amalienborg, Nyhavn, and the new Opera House.
Along the way was some healthy competition in the form of kayak races and challenges - and some very splashed clothes by the end!
Our kayaking team ranged from total beginners to experienced kayakers, but with the help of our experienced guides we all made it safely back to dry land.
To finish off the evening our tired kayakers relaxed in the nearby kayak bar with cold drinks and some great food.
Summer Party - BBQ and beach trip
Nothing says summer quite like BBQ’s and relaxing on the beach, so that’s exactly what we did for this year's summer event!
The action packed day was kicked off with a puzzle walk of inner city Copenhagen. After splitting into teams, each group was given a polaroid camera and 2 hours to complete a series of challenges - with a prize to follow for the team with the most points! For both those familiar to the city as well as for recent movers, it was a great chance to explore the city and learn something new. Did you know for example that there are four H.C. Andersen books that start with ‘The Little…’ or have ‘little’ in them? Can you name them?
After lunch, it was time for some more exploring - this time by boat where our team members got to try out being captain and feel the wind in their hair.
Finally, it was time to head to the beach for some sun, sea and sand. The rest of the day was spent in each other's company as we all enjoyed some cold drinks, football, and of course the BBQ!

Here at Dreamdata we love diversity! Despite being a relatively small company, there are now 18 different nationalities from all over the globe represented at Dreamdata!
Along with this diverse workforce, it brings with it a chance every day to meet people from a whole range of different cultures and backgrounds. Each of us brings something unique to the table which means that we are always finding new perspectives and ways of tackling problems.
